Everyone's a Winner

I put all the screen-names who entered my Pay It Forward giveaway into my hat, and drew three out.

I'll admit it: part of me wanted to cut down the pool to make things easier on me. I considered taking out the guys. I considered taking out the international entries... But I didn't. I put in all the guys. I put in the internationals. I put all 23 entries into the hat (even ones I REALLY debated putting in, like the person who has already held the contest and the guy who was probably a spam poster), and these were the first three I drew:

- Alexa
- Heidi Renée
- Renee

ETA: If you really want to win, I recommend stalking those blogs... They might just post their own giveaways soon.

I know two of the winners in real life (Heidi from high school, Renee from college). And it is rather convenient that they're all female (guess who's getting Bonne Bell!) and all in the USA... but I SWEAR I played by the rules. There was no funny business. Seriously.

So ladies, please send your contact information to angelaboration(at)gmail(dot)com (or one of the other methods you have of getting a hold of me, like facebook or something).

But I had so many entries! So I'm going to reward them in two (yes, two!) ways... The first is in Link Love!!! (May all your Technorati scores rise!)

The following delightful people entered:
- The Chaotic Libra
- Cheryl
- CK1
- Eric Shonkwiler
- Frog
- Gooseberried
- Jenn
- K
- Lesha
- Livros e Revistas
- Maxie (although it appears her blog moved... Girl, where are you?)
- Melissa
- Nilsa S
- Pixelation
- Rachel
- ShadowJim
- Swanny
- theedeeter
- Tipp
- The V

Here's part two...

A lot of the entrants seemed stoked about the potential to have giveaways of their own...

So, I'm going to make an offer to everyone else.

If you start your own branch of the Pay It Forward Giveaway, then I will make you a mix CD. Yes, that's right. You, too, can have a fantastically brilliant mix CD homemade by yours truly (and I make great mixes. Just ask Brian or Jenn.)

If you decide to take me up on this, just drop me a note -- angelaboration(at)gmail(dot)com -- when you post the contest on your blog, and send me your address. :)

I hope a bunch of you start this contest yourselves. It's fun!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Some follow-up on my last entry:
- Exercise
Oh, I suck at this. My weights just came in the mail, and it turns out that 5 pounds is too heavy to do many reps with. I'm a pathetic weakling. And I haven't done the belly dance stuff. Carmen Electra's stuff is just so easy... I know, I know. I swear I'll get on track soon.
-The Movie
Finally finished Romance & Cigarettes. It's frickin' weird, but I dug it. And it made me download an Engelbert Humperdinck song... Never thought I'd do that.
-Airline Fiasco
So you know how the airline said they'd refund my money? THEY DIDN'T! Those bastards. I called today, and they said it'd be back in my account in 7-14 BUSINESS DAYS. In the meantime, I went into overdraft. Thanks a lot, airline. Next time I need travel arrangements, I'm going to make my Dad do it, and I'll just pay him back. I'm not dealing with this again. Too frustrating.
-Statement of Purpose/Grad School Application
Figured out the mess with the university application. Wrote statement of purpose. Got all my stuff together in a manila envelope and brought it to work with me so that I could head to the post office and mail it on my lunch break... But when I got to the office, I didn't have the envelope anymore. It must've fallen out of my bag on the L without me noticing. To review, this envelope included:
1. One of my recommendation letters.
2. My headshot/résumé (i.e. my photograph, full name, address, phone number, email address, height, weight...)
3. My departmental application (including my social security number).
So, pretty much the worst possible thing to leave on an L, aside from maybe my wallet. Awful. I got all the stuff together again yesterday and sent it out overnight mail (I had to wait in line at the post office ON TAX DAY. Took my entire lunch period). Should be fine. And the person who wrote that rec. letter is mailing it again for me. So as long as no one steals my identity, everything is oh-bee-kay-bee.
- State Taxes
Figured it out and mailed them. HA! I beat you, government! Give me my money back!
- Tony 'N Tina's Wedding
Ran into two separate people I know on the way to the audition (to Renee & Deet: It was Tori & Girts... Random!). Went in, performed my Hockey Monologue, and walked out. And apparently I rocked it, because I got a callback. For those who don't know theatre, a callback means they liked what they saw, and they want to see me again. Tomorrow night I'm going to back to show off my improv skills. Except, oh wait, I don't have improv skills. So this is pretty much the end of the line for me, but it's still always nice to get a callback... It means you must be doing something right. :)
So, that's pretty much it at the moment. I'll let you know if anything else interesting happens. But to be honest, I wouldn't mind if things settled down for a couple of weeks. I could use the rest.
May you always feel like a winner.
Tori and Girts! no way. That's so funny too, cuz I was talking to someone who is still majorly in touch with Tori who was like "yeah, she just had an audition this week".
Small world moments like that are amazing.
ALthough I guess it's not really "small world" when there are actors in a city auditioning, but whatever, it still makes me happy.
Yessss! Address emailed. I'm going to go wait by the mailbox now. Except this means I have to have an encounter with the heinously unpleasant mail lady. Make sure to write your return address REALLY big so she reads it, recognizes your name, and treats me with at least a smile. That's all I ask.
Dude, KS JUST was talking to us about Jane the Nicest of Nice postal worker the other day in Voice and Movement. According to Katie, she is exponentially nicer now than she was when Katie first started at SMC. WOW that's a lot of mean.
that rachel was me, and i have no ideaaaa why my link wouldn't show up. how strange. welp, i'm at confessions-of-a-jersey-girl.blogspot.com, just in case this comment decides to hate me and not leave my link. ew.
yay for getting the tony and tina's call back! good luck!
xoxox
ps. i'm totally doing this on my blog but i have to get the friend swap out of the way first. :o)
Awww, thanks for the bloggy love, even though I didn't win. Funny enough, I've been talking with one of my favorite bloggers and I'm currently putting together a care package for her. Once I successfully get her package in the mail, I will likely do a pay-it-forward of my own. Woot!
Thanks for the link love!
Congrats on getting a call back!
thanks angela! my address is in your email. woohoo!
But, but, but... my blog is dead, and no one reads it. What if I promise to do it in real life instead. :)
Try talking to your bank about the overdraft. I had a similar situation where someone that should have been refunded caused an overdraft, and they agreed to refund the fees once the refund posted. Doesn't help a whole lot until then, but it's something.
Done! I mean my pay-it-forward contest.
I saw Tony & Tina's wedding a few years ago. I liked the interactive part, especially when my best friend totally threw off one of the actors and he had to walk away before he slipped too far out of character!
Sweet! And I will definitely be doing a Pay-It-Forward of my own. So everyone here should come visit me!
I love your note paper. Personalized stationery is the best!
How frustrating to lose that packet on the L - I would have flipped. At least everything worked out in the end!
What's your Hockey Monologue? Just point me in the right direction if you've already blogged it.
P.S. Using the word blog reminded me of a new favorite phrase: "Honest to blog?"
pre-S. I'll have to go back to that pay-it-forward entry.
I'll drink to the fact that you make superb mixes! :) (Skål, as we say here in Sweden with our funny vowels...;)
(reminds me that my jazz one may be getting old, but I love it so much...)
And I am also curious abt the Hockey monologue - sounds promising, esp. if you got a callback - congrats!!
Nico said...
Ah, what a good post to end the week.
@cessie: did I tell you or did I tell you this was a good blog?
Gooseberried said...
Aww man! I was a-wishing and hoping. Thanks for the linkage though! :)
You keep doing as many reps as you can and that number will get bigger. And you will feel very strong and sexy and who doesn't love THAT?!
Also Tony & Tina callback?! Yay!
@theedeeter - Yeah! Tori was just headed out of the audition, and Girts was on his way to Second City. Oh, and I once had a pleasant encounter with Jane at the post office. Remind me to tell you about it.
@ Renee - Woo-hoo! Sorry about having to deal with Jane. I don't think she'll recognize my name after two years... sorry. :-/
@ rachel elizabeth - You're linked! Thanks. :)
@ nilsa s. - No problem. :) And if you do a Pay It Forward, let me know.
@ jenn - No problem. And thanks!
@ alexa - Awesome!
@ CK1 - A promise to pay it forward in real life works for me. Just email me your address, and I'll send a CD.
@ lulamaegirl - Thanks for the advice.
@ cheryl - Yay! Thanks for starting a new branch of Pay It Forward! Haha, I've never actually seen TnT's, but that sounds funny.
@ heidi renée - My mom bought me those Aiea Notes for Christmas one year. I love them.
@ megkathleen - I KNOW! It was awful! But yeah, I think I got everything together in the end.
@ daniel - See next post for hockey monologue explanation. And yes, I also use the phrase Honest to Blog. That line was the best part of the movie Juno.
@ kristens81 - Yay! Thanks for starting a new Pay It Forward!
@ cessie - If you want me to make you a CD, feel free to start a Pay It Forward of your own. I don't mind sending a CD internationally. :) Hockey monologue explanation in next post.
@ Nico - Oh, you're sweet! Glad you enjoyed it. :)
@ gooseberried - Again, you can still get a CD if you'd like! Or go visit the blogs of the winners in a couple of weeks and enter their contests!
@ tokissthecook - I did some reps today. I think I'll do some more tonight. Break it up in intervals to lessen the stress on my arms. And thanks!
hey, i just wanted to say thanks for giving me the chance with the CD and all. i kept thinking that i needed to remember to email you my address, then by the time i finally remembered it completely slipped my mind. and subconsiously, i didn't think it'd be fair of me to do a pay-it-forward (not that i didnt want to, cuz i totally did!) cuz i only know of like 4 people who read my blog, and i didn't want to deprive others of the chance for forward paying! i know, i'm a little insane...
To theedeeter - Feel free to Pay It Forward in a blog-less manner.
